Two Modules

ANA for Marketo is organized into two major modules:

ModulePurposeWho Uses It
Assets ModuleCreate, rename, tag, and manage Marketo assets with enforced namingAll users
Configuration ModuleDefine naming categories, tokens, rules, and conventionsAdministrators

Assets Module

The Assets Module is where marketers interact with ANA day-to-day. It provides the following capabilities:

Create New Assets

Create assets with standardized names. Supported asset types: Emails, Forms, Landing Pages, Programs, and Campaigns. When creating, you can optionally clone from an existing template or asset for consistent design.

Rename Existing Assets

Search for existing assets by keyword, edit the name to match conventions, and save. Supports all asset types.

Switch Connection

Toggle between multiple Marketo instances and set a default connection. Useful for organizations managing several Marketo environments.

Recently Created Assets

View all assets recently created through ANA across users, with quick-access rename capability.

Tags

Create and apply custom tags to assets for identification, tracking, and searchability. Tags are applied automatically based on naming rules and categories.

Add UTM to Email Assets

Attach pre-configured UTM parameters to URLs within email assets. Select parameters, choose target links, and apply — ensuring consistent UTM taxonomy across all campaigns.

Program Tags

When creating programs, select tag values defined by the administrator in Marketo (e.g., Default, Email, Engagement, Event).

Tokens in Programs

Configure tokens exclusively for programs. Asset ID tokens are auto-generated. Tokens are visible in Marketo’s My Tokens section.

Clone as New

Reuse an existing asset as a reference with mapped category values and tokens preserved.

Sync to Salesforce

Sync new or existing Marketo programs directly to Salesforce campaigns.

Configuration Module

The Configuration Module is the admin-only interface where naming rules, categories, and tokens are defined. It includes:

  • Assets — Enable or disable which asset types can be created per connection
  • Categories — Build the naming taxonomy with Textbox, Date, and Picklist category types
  • Tokens — Create tokens for programs (Text, Date, Picklist, Asset ID, Email Script)
  • Rules — Define separator characters, append options, and category-to-asset mappings
  • CDO Configuration — Map categories to Custom Data Object fields for extended analytics
  • Miscellaneous — Asset tagging toggle, character restrictions, suggested name length, UTM parameters, and Salesforce sync settings
