What is Asset Tagging
Asset tagging in ANA automatically assigns metadata tags to assets based on the naming categories and rules configured by your administrator. These tags make assets instantly discoverable — reducing search time from minutes to seconds.
Tags are applied at the point of creation or rename, ensuring every asset in your Marketo instance carries consistent, structured metadata from the moment it enters the system.
How Tags Are Applied
When you create or rename an asset through ANA, tags are applied automatically based on:
- Category values — Each category field you fill during asset creation can generate a corresponding tag
- Naming rules — The administrator’s naming rule configuration determines which categories contribute to tagging
- Asset type — Different asset types may have different tagging rules based on their category-to-asset mappings
No manual tagging is required — the system handles it automatically as part of the asset creation workflow.
Managing Tags
Administrators control tagging behavior from the Configuration Module:
- Enable/Disable Tagging — The asset tagging toggle in Miscellaneous settings controls whether tagging is active across the instance
- Tag Sources — Tags are derived from the categories defined in the Categories configuration. Adding or modifying categories affects which tags are available
- Custom Tags — Create and apply custom tags to assets for additional identification and tracking beyond what the naming categories provide
Tags vs Program Tags
ANA supports two distinct types of tags:
