Starting a New QA Run
- Navigate to Governance Hub > QA & Compliance.
- Click the + New QA Run button in the top-right.
- Browse or search for the Marketo program you want to QA.
- Select the email program.
- Click Run QA.
The system will:
- Connect to your Marketo instance and read the program data (tokens, email settings, email content, smart list, smart campaigns)
- Run all enabled automated checks
- Surface data for semi-automated checks
- Create placeholder entries for manual and custom checks
This process typically takes 10–30 seconds depending on the program's complexity and number of links to validate.
Note: Only email program types are supported. If you select a non-email program (engagement, event, default), the system displays: "Only email programs are supported in this version."
Understanding QA Run Results
After the run completes, you are taken to the Run Detail page. This page shows:
- Summary bar — Total checks, passed, failed, warnings, errors, and pending counts.
- Workflow banner — Shows the current status of the run (for example, "Scan complete. Complete Self QA checks, then submit for peer review.").
- Check results — Grouped by category (Program Setup, Email Settings, Email Content, Smart List). Each check shows:
- Check name and type (automated / semi-auto / manual)
- Result: Pass, Fail, Warning, Error, or Pending
- Severity: Error, Warning, or Info
- Detail message explaining what was found versus what was expected
For failed checks, the detail message shows the specific value that failed. For example: "Subject line is 63 characters. Maximum: 50." — not just "Failed."
Completing Semi-Automated Checks
Semi-automated checks surface extracted Marketo data for you to review and confirm. You do not need to leave the QA screen to verify this information.
For each semi-automated check:
- Review the extracted data displayed in the check card (for example, list of emails attached to the program, smart campaign triggers, program tags).
- Click Pass if the data is correct, or Fail if something is wrong.
- Optionally add notes explaining your decision.
Common semi-automated checks include:
- Correct email selected — Shows the email(s) attached to the program. Confirm the correct email is being sent.
- Setup tab fields — Shows program tags and their values. Confirm they are correct.
- Smart campaign config — Shows trigger configuration. Confirm the correct trigger and settings.
- Filter error check — Shows smart list filters. Confirm there are no errors (red lines) in the filter configuration.
Completing Manual and Custom Checks
Manual checks and admin-created custom checks require you to inspect the asset and mark the result.
- Read the check instructions (displayed in the check card).
- Inspect the relevant asset in Marketo or your internal tools.
- Click Pass or Fail.
- Optionally add notes.
Your answers are saved immediately — you can close the browser and come back later. Your progress is preserved.
You can change your answer on any check until you submit the self-review. After self-review, results are locked.
