Overview
Multi-Instance Campaign Overlap is an advanced capability within Campaign Calendar that enables users to identify campaign scheduling conflicts across multiple Eloqua instances.
Organizations often maintain separate Eloqua instances for different business units, brands, regions, or environments. While campaigns may be managed independently within each instance, limited visibility across instances can lead to campaign scheduling conflicts and overlapping customer communications.
Multi-Instance Campaign Overlap provides a unified campaign calendar view that allows users to visualize campaign activity across selected Eloqua instances and identify overlapping campaign schedules.
Multi-Instance Support
Organizations with multiple connected Eloqua instances can leverage Multi-Instance Campaign Overlap by selecting multiple instances for analysis.
Users can:
- View campaigns from multiple instances simultaneously
- Compare campaign schedules across instances
- Identify multi-instance overlaps
Instance Selection
Campaign Calendar includes an Instances Selector that allows users to control which Eloqua instances participate in campaign visualization and overlap analysis.
To enable multi-instance analysis:
- Open the Campaign Calendar application.
- Select two or more Eloqua instances using the checkboxes from the bottom-left corner of the page.
- The calendar automatically refreshes and displays campaigns from all selected instances and enables multi-instance overlap analysis.
Calendar Visualization
When multiple instances are selected, Campaign Calendar displays campaigns from all selected instances on the same timeline.
Campaign Display
Each campaign displays:
- Campaign Name
- Eloqua Instance Name
- Campaign Status (Colour)
- Overlap Percentage
Timeline View
Users can:
- View campaigns from multiple instances together
- Compare campaign schedules across instances
- Identify overlapping campaign periods
- Monitor campaign distribution across selected Eloqua instances
Draft Planning Support
Multi-Instance Campaign Overlap supports Campaign Calendar's Draft Planning capability across multiple Eloqua instances.
Draft Planning allows users to evaluate potential campaign overlaps before campaign execution by adding existing Eloqua campaigns to the calendar as draft entries.
When Multi-Instance Mode is enabled, users can add draft campaigns from any selected Eloqua instance and evaluate potential same-instance and multi-instance overlaps before campaign execution.
To add a campaign to a draft plan:
- Enable Draft Planning Mode.
- Click Add Draft.
- Select the Eloqua instance from the dropdown for which you want to plan draft campaigns.
- Search for the campaign you want to add.
- Modify the planned start date, end date, and select the desired overlap calculation rule.
- Click Add to Calendar.
- Verify that the draft campaign is displayed on the calendar timeline.
Draft campaigns participate in overlap analysis alongside active and scheduled campaigns, helping users identify scheduling conflicts and optimize campaign planning across multiple Eloqua instances.
Metrics
When Multi-Instance Mode is enabled, overlap metrics are calculated across all selected Eloqua instances.
Total Campaigns
Displays the total number of campaigns across all selected Eloqua instances for the selected date range.
This metric includes campaigns from every selected instance.
Total Contacts
Displays the total number of contacts included across all campaigns within the selected Eloqua instances.
Campaigns with Overlaps
Displays the total number of campaigns involved in at least one overlap.
This metric includes campaigns participating in:
- Same-instance overlaps
- Multi-instance overlaps
Contacts in Overlapping Campaigns
Displays the total number of contacts contained within campaigns identified as overlapping.
This metric includes contacts from campaigns involved in:
- Same-instance overlaps
- Multi-instance overlaps
These metrics help users understand the overall impact and potential audience exposure resulting from overlapping campaign activity.
